Roses by the window
Christopher brought home roses and pizza a couple nights ago.
The blooms were lovely yesterday; today with a soft snow falling outside they're magical — Juan Diego's cloak full of roses, Beauty's father finding a rose for her in Beast's garden.
They brought to mind Louis MacNeice's 1935 poem, Snow:
The room was suddenly rich and the great bay-window was
Spawning snow and pink roses against it
Soundlessly collateral and incompatible:
World is suddener than we fancy it.

No snow here in eastern Ontario, Canada yet. Current temperature is 11ºC - about 50ºF. Normal highs for this time of year are around -5ºC or 23ºF. And BushCo still want to deny global warming??
